I have been told I
have lymphedema of my left leg. My doctor has prescribed me a water pill. Does
this work?
I can guarantee you
one thing; water pills are useless for lymphedema. This leg swelling is due to increases in
fluid and tissue in the leg. The swelling in lymphedema is unresponsive to water pills; only
ignorant doctors prescribe water pills. You really should dumb this fool. These
are the same idioits who prescribe water pills for varicose veins.
What you need is a
good pair of compression stockings that must be worn daily, forever. At night,
you may even apply pneumatic pumps, which are available from any medical supply
store. Please stop the water pill as it will only dehydrate you and lower your
potassium. Go and see a vascular
surgeon and get the diagnosis confirmed. NO matter what, never ever undergo
surgery for lymphedema. You will live to regret the day you were born.
