Human or Animal Insulin?

 Which insulin is better, human or animal?

For decades, only animal insulin was available. Then some patients and doctors got an itch in their arse and started to complain that animal insulin was not effective or caused problems and so forth. Soon, human insulin was introduced. 

All I can tell you right now, is that there is not one iota of evidence that human insulin is better than animal insulin. Human insulin was introduced into the market simply because of the hysteria over animal insulin. There are no large scale randomized studies that have shown that human insulin is better than animal insulin.

The limited studies done have shown no difference between the two insulins.

Human insulin is also much more expensive. If porcine insulin is working for you, just stick to it. I cannot find a single good reason why human insulin should be used over animal insulin. All this stuff about acquiring mad cow disease is a bunch of shit created by the manufacturers and doctors who have a vested interest in selling the more expensive human insulin.
