Fluid retention

I have suddenly started to gain a lot of fluid in my body. This has been ongoing for a few months. What should I do?

You need to see a doctor to determine if your kidneys are working. That is the first step. You may need work up to ensure your thyroid hormone levels are normal. Next you need to get your heart checked. You have not mentioned your age, but fluid retention has many causes. A thorough exam and some basic blood work is necessary-good luck. In the meantime, elevate your leg when resting and wear a decent pair of compression stockings.
