Botched sleeve gastrectomy

I had a sleeve gastrectomy about 8 months ago and now have swallowing difficulties. I have been told I have a stricture. What are my options?

The good news first:

The first thing is try and balloon the stricture. This usually works for short strictures that are not old (less than 3-6 months). However, you may need the ballooning done frequently as this is not a cure. In addition, every time you have a balloon procedure, there is a risk of perforation- which can be life threatening.

Recently some surgeons have combined ballooning with stents. However, this will cost you many thousands of dollars.

Now the bad news- If the stricture is long, you are in bad shit. The only way round- is surgery to bypass the stricture. I would definitely see a malpractice lawyer. Think twice about a repeat surgery, as it is more hazardous and complications are VERY COMMON
